Abby
What drew you to The Collective?
I love the idea of community, not competition. From the moment I entered the space, I could feel the love, care, and intention that went into the creation of it. The studio is absolutely gorgeous... bright, airy, and clean. The high ceilings are also perfect for my classes.
What kind of teacher are you?
Playful, fun, and energetic! In addition to countless exercises, drills, and techniques, you can expect giggles, games, and good times. Remember that childlike state of wonder you experienced when you were five? That's the feeling I aim to entice. My goal is for you to have so much fun that you don't even realize you're working out... and trust me, you will be 😉
What else are you up to?
I'm a full-time creative entrepreneur. In addition to teaching fitness classes, I also train hoop dance instructors nationwide through live and online courses. Hoola Monsters is my local company, and we specialize in handmade hoops, performances (including fire dance), children's birthday parties and special event entertainment. Our performance resume includes America's Got Talent, the Tampa Bay Bucs & Rays, and Cirque du Soleli, to name a few of the most notable. I'm an ACE Certified Youth Fitness Specialist, and I also teach Kidding Around Yoga and Kids Fit. My third company is Good Vibe Designs; I'm a handmade jewelry artist, and most weekends - you can find me at the Saturday Morning Market in downtown St. Pete. Finally, I'm a mental health advocate and blogger (abbyjoanlee.com). I'm currently working to find a publisher for my first book. I'm sharing my story about losing a loved one to suicide, my journey finding the light from clinical depression, and how movement meditation heals.
