Accountability Form

At The Collective we are a space which houses different ideas, perspectives and values and have given teachers and students the autonomy to offer and participate in whatever they feel most aligned with. Diversity exists across conversations beyond just race and while we are not negligent to the category of race, it is not the only lens we are committed to seeing diversity through. Representation of race, gender, age, and ability is something that is important to us and we have tried to create a structure which is inclusive for all to participate in no matter who they are.

As founding members of The Collective, we are each individually committed to doing the work to uncover our own implicit biases, conditioning and privilege. We are open to engaging in conversations that may help to illuminate things that our privilege has allowed us to overlook. While we are eager to do this work, we also recognize that un-packing all of this is a lifelong practice and not something that can be resolved overnight. We hope to hold grace for not only ourselves but others as we all continue to peel back the layers of self.

We think it’s important to consider nuance and individuality on the path and practice of anti-racism. We understand that there are various ways in which people can do the work. We recognize that people are multi-dimensional and move through, process and integrate this work in different ways. We wish to support people in this work with humility and understanding so that we can all continue to uplift, motivate and support one another in our shared goal of dismantling white supremacy, eradicating racism and building an equitable future.

We are committed to creating an equitable space by changing the paradigm from which the wellness community has always operated. We practice equality by opening our doors to anyone who wants to be a part of The Collective, may it be as a teacher, space holder, creative or student. We practice equity by providing various and plentiful options for teachers and students alike to participate in the sharing or receiving of offerings. We are committed to meeting people exactly where they are. We welcome those with any grievances, concerns, observations or recommendations to bring them forward so that we can always be working towards repair and solution.

We understand the meaning of an at risk conversation and the hesitation in confronting a group of white facing women. As founders committed to restorative justice, we are putting anonymous accountability forms in place to reduce and hopefully eliminate the risk others feel when bringing their truths forward to us. We are here for the continued work and we are listening.
