Embodied Conversations: A Contact Dance Workshop

At its core, dance is about connection - to ourselves, one another, and to collective creative rhythms. Contact dance is a playful way of connecting with one another through movement.

This workshop is open to all levels and introduces the basics of partner contact dance.

Contact dance (or contact improvisation) is a form of improvised dance with a partner that uses the basic principles of rolling point of contact, weight sharing, and shared momentum. Understanding the basic guiding principles of this art form allows us to find more fluidity, connection, and playfulness. We find grounding, lift, flow, and creativity with our partners in an embodied conversation.

Bring a partner to dance with, or come alone and be paired with a new friend!
