What drew you to The Collective?

I actually didn’t know much about The Collective at all when I started getting frequent “nudges” to inquire about teaching there. When I started looking into the intention & mission of The Collective, I knew why I had been called to check it out. The balance of individuality & togetherness is essential for community to thrive & The Collective is a beautiful example of this balance. There isn’t pressure to fit into a box & I feel so supported & accepted exactly where I’m at. I feel so blessed to be a part of so many beautiful artists & teachers & be able to share my gifts with this truly amazing community.

Thank you, God/Universe for leading me here!

What kind of teacher are you?

Growing up as a trained ballet dancer, most of my life had been spent only ever doing steps that other people had instructed, placing my power outside of myself, & desperately craving approval from my teachers & peers. This pattern was not only present in dance, but also in many aspects of my life outside of the studio.

In 2018, I was finally liberated by one of my greatest teachers, Maurice Causey. When I was studying abroad in Europe, his workshop had shifted into an improvisational dance class. The idea of not knowing what was expected of me gave me anxiety & the idea of doing something wrong terrified me. This man told me “nothing you can do is wrong” & I think this was the first time in my life I had experienced true freedom. Releasing perfectionism & judgment of how my body moved was truly a life-changing experience for me.

For the first time in my life, I moved for me.

This experience has shaped me into the teacher (& person) I am today. The healing, spirituality, freedom, trust, and radical self acceptance I have experienced through movement has been a gift, and I just want everyone to experience that.

As a teacher, I strive to be intentional & responsible when leading classes. I am a teacher who incorporates my experience in yoga & mindfulness along with a lifetime of dance training to encourage students to truly listen to their bodies, building more trust & intimacy with themselves. With kindness & compassion being the utmost priority, I provide a judgement-free, safe, loving, nurturing space for individuals to learn to trust their perfect bodies. I provide loose structure with the encouragement of releasing what the teacher wants them to do, & tuning into what THEY want to do. I love co-creative experiences where students inspire what happens next in class. I strive for a creative, playful, fun environment, but am also aware that sometimes “our issues get stuck in our tissues”.. so sadness, anger, grief, & any other emotion is welcome too!

There is absolutely nothing you could ever do wrong in any of my classes! No right. No wrong. All is welcome. All is accepted. Everything is truly perfect. You are perfect. (while in class.. but also in all areas of your life, hehe)

What else are you up to?

I hold monthly PlayShops in St Pete, where I provide a space to connect back to our childhood, play games, feel nostalgic, & play play play to our hearts content! I am also an Ecstatic Dance facilitator & certified yoga instructor.

I am working toward growing my business & offering more classes & services!

As for leisure activities, I will probably be found journaling, learning about myself & the wonders of life, frolicking around in nature, doing something artistic, or spending time caring for children. I am passionate about all things Ayurveda, living an intentional sustainable low-waste lifestyle & one of my all time favorite feelings in the world is nostalgia. I am on a mission to spread love & make the world a better place!
