What drew you to The Collective?
100% the people. Some of my greatest teachers teach at The Collective - amazing, kind, genuine people who have not only inspired me with their light but also instilled so much positivity and gratitude in me. I feel so blessed to be a part of such a supportive and beautiful community!
What kind of teacher are you?
I love to empower my students with affirmations, education, and choice.
Affirmations: because you are a badass and you deserve to hear it!
Education: because knowledge is power, so I believe its important for you to understand why we do a pose or a technique, not just how to do it
Choice: because every body is different, so I encourage you to own your own practice and do what feels best for your body
I teach all of my classes through a trauma-informed lense. Knowing that everyone carries some form of trauma, I am mindful of the language I use and strive to hold a supportive and safe space for all.
In terms of yoga styles, I enjoy teaching a variety including hatha, vinyasa/flow, yin, and restorative/gentle. I incorporate different elements into my classes like breathing techniques, sound (i.e. crystal/Tibetan singing bowls), and guided meditation.
Lastly, you can always expect a yummy and decent length (7-10 mins) savasana with me. After all, this is what we are leading up to during our entire practice - when moving meditation becomes still meditation. When active nervous system goes into rest and digest, and we integrate all of the work we put in.
What else are you up to?
I teach yoga to teen girls in the local Pinellas and Hillsborough County Juvenile Detention Centers through Kula for Karma, a nonprofit organization focused on bringing therapeutic yoga to those recovering from trauma and addiction. I also teach private yoga in person and via zoom.
As a forever student, I am constantly working on growing my knowledge through a variety of specialized training programs/certifications (i.e. breath coaching, yoga nidra, etc.) so that I can better support my students and provide more value in my classes. My goal is to combine several specializations to create unique and impactful experiences that help you heal and flourish.
